MIDDLE SCHOOL – YEARS 8 - 9

In working toward ensuring that our students receive the best entry into secondary education, our Years 8 and 9 students and teachers form a sub-group (Middle School) within our school.  This structure enables the staff who are committed to Middle School to build closer relationships with students and parents and develop and monitor each child’s academic and social progress more closely.

A supportive and caring learning environment has been established to provide a greater opportunity for students to succeed.

Year 8 and 9 students have their own learning centres and teaching teams, that will ensure every young person is connected to the learning program that best meets his/her needs.  The teaching team consists of specialists in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science and Society & Environment.

Safe and Secure

We know that beginning high school can be a challenging experience for students.  To ease the transition from primary school to high school, we will strive to create a safe playground and classroom environment.  Every Year 8 student will participate in a highly successful anti-bullying and peer medication program.  A commitment to the social and emotional development of our students will be a priority.
