Student Services

The Student Support Services team consists of the following:

ABORIGINAL EDUCATION AND ISLANDER OFFICER  ~  Mr Rety Oddy

Aboriginal Education Islander Worker provide support and guidance to Aboriginal students and their families in any matters affecting the students' education.

COMMUNITY NURSE  ~  Mrs Angela Connolly-Brown

The Health Centre is staffed by a nurse ( three days per week) who advises students on general health issues, and attends to illnesses and injuries occurring at school.

Students may attend the Centre in their own time or by appointment only.  Before leaving class to see the nurse, students must obtain a pass from their class teacher.  Before a student is sent home ill, a parent or emergency contact must be notified. 

CULTURAL DIVERSITY OFFICER -  Mrs Loan Tran

The school has a Cultural Diversity Officer to provide support for ethnic students and parents.  She will also assist with communication between parents, teachers and students especially with Vietnamese speaking parents.

Parents, teachers and students are welcome to visit her office (in the main Administration Block) if they wish to discuss their concerns.

SCHOOL CHAPLAIN

The Chaplain is employed by the Churches Commission on Education.  This independent position is supported and funded partly by the Balga/Girrawheen District Christian Council which is a co-operative council of local churches.  She is available to discuss and assist students, parents and staff with family, personal, emotional or spiritual issues.  She also liaises with and refers to community groups, helping agencies and churches providing relevant services.

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS

The School Psychologist is available as a consultant to students and parents.  She will happily assist with concerns of an educational, behavioural or psychological nature.  Parents are encouraged to make appointments should they wish to discuss student progress or other concerns.

YEAR 8 TEAM LEADER  ~  Mr Pielow

The Year 8 Learning Team offers a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.  The team is comprised of a group of dedicated and committed teaches who provide fantastic opportunities for their students.  Mr Pielow, the Year 8 Team Leader manages the team and can be contacted at all times to discuss issues relating to a child’s education.

YEAR 9 TEAM LEADER  -  Mr Bruce Nind

A supportive and caring learning environment has been established to provide a greater opportunity for student to succeed into the new millennium.  Her role is to manage BMIS and attendance for Year 9 students and general Pastoral Care.

YEAR 10, 11 AND 12 TEAM LEADERS – Mr Murray Williams and Ms Barbara Newton

Year 10, 11 and 12 Team Leaders are is located in the Senior School Block.  Their roles are to manage BMIS and attendance for the senior school students and general pastoral care.
